Dan Crader had the season of his life on FS Dunits Hitman. Not only did the pair win the John Ward Rookie Trophy (which his wife Wendy won the year prior) but he also won the Heartland Series Rookie Saddle!
Our traditional Fall BBQ was again hosted by Dan and Wendy Crader and Mike Tuley hosted the bar. We had pork tenderloin, Cowboy Beans, salad and deserts were bountiful. During dinner, MRHA President Heather Slemp, called Hattie Bittle to the front. Hattie nervously walked forward and Heather put her arm around her and started to tell the audience about Hattie's hard work collecting sponsorships. The member who collected the most sponsorship money was to win a free stall at this show. Hattie's horse had been injured earlier this season and so it was decided to get her an award. She graciously accetped.
We are looking for Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Janet and Bruce Pittman have decided to take more time to enjoy retirement together which will leave the above mentioned officer positions open.
Membership Speaks Out
The membership of MRHA has spoken in support of maintaining 4 NRHA shows in Missouri.
Heather Slemp suggested working with SMRHA to jointly hold and manage at least one show in 2014.

Fall Novice/Rookie Clinic/Horse Show
August 25, 2012
Twenty-four horse and rider teams attended the Reining Clinic and Novice Show held on August 25 at Jim Dudley’s arena outside of Columbia. Instructors for the clinic were Jim Dudley, Mike Tuley, Jake Letner and Heather Slemp. Everyone was able to learn about stops, circles, spins, straightness, etc. during the morning clinic. After a lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs and all the trimmings, everyone headed back out to put their newly acquired skills into practice at the novice show. There were ranch riding, horsemanship and reining classes for rookies, novice riders and youth riders. Mike Tuley and Jim Dudley handled the judging duties.
Larry Inchiostro did an excellent job of putting the clinic and show together. Other volunteers who helped out were Susan Wilderman, Ron Gann, Will and Larry Letner, Janet Pittman and Kathy Cebuhar.

Looking back at 2011 while preparing for 2012
February 8, 2012
Thank You. MRHA enjoyed a membership increase of 100% in 2011! Because of several key people putting in a tremendous amount of time and energy into this club, MRHA was able to be reborn. The work of these people caused others to become excited which in turn created the charged-up membership we currently have.
Once again MRHA is providing an opportunity to compete for all levels of rider with two Novice/Rookie shows and two NRHA sanctioned shows. The dates of these events are posted on our Show Schedule Page and the showbills will be posted as they are finalized.
Managing the club in 2012 is President Jim Dudley, Vice President Sterling Slemp, Secretary Janet Pittman, Treasurer Heather Slemp and Board of Directors Kathy Cebuhar (Youth Coordinator), Denise Holiman, Larry Inchiostro and Mike Tuley. Their contact information is also posted.
2011 held some impressive achievements for several members. Remies Smokin (ROY), with Larry Inchiostro in the saddle, won the American Ranch Horse Assoc. National title in Amateur Ranch Reining. Sterling Slemp had quite a fall- he showed two horses at the American Morgan Horse Assoc. National Championship and was Champion in Junior Reining on ALB Morgan's Enfield Rifle and Reserve Champion in Junior Reining on ALB Morgan's Nantucket Sound. Sterling then went onto the American Paint Horse Assoc World Show and was Reserve Champion in the Junior Reining on the Veraguth's Riverama QT Star who is by their stallion Dunnits QT Dynasty.
The 2011 MRHA Circuit results will be announced in next month's newsletter along with other horse related news from our membership. If you have something to share please email me, Heather Slemp, email@example.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
Next Meeting is February 25th. Location to be announced.
